For this post I wanted to shortly talk about the stretchy system that I use most often when rigging IK arms and Legs.
This image is from the IK stretchy system for free rig I made of Rocket Raccoon. I usually start this system with solid naming conventions and also populating the node editor with the nodes that are needed to create the system. Then I make custom attributes for the controls so that later in the workflow I have something to connect this system and my FK switch to.
This system only consists of a distanceBetween node, multiplyDivide, and a few condition nodes. With clean orientations and proper joint layout it makes this step quick and easy.
If you'd like to see the system in action please check out my reels page and reference the Rocket Raccoon Breakdown
